We recently helped a partner company install this Daikin Altherma Monobloc Air to Water Heat Pump at a Port Townsend home.

The home has radiant floor heating and was using a propane gas powered tankless water heater to supply the system and a second tankless unit supplied the potable hot water to the home.  The high cost of propane gas forced the owner to look for an alternative solution.  Enter the Daikin Atherma Air to Water Heat Pump which is designed to provide both space heating and potable hot water heating using an in-direct water heater.

Hot Water Heater

Hot Water Heater

The Altherma Monobloc (all-in-one) has all the heat pump and hydronic parts located within the outdoor unit.  During operation the heat pump heats hot water that is then circulated into the radiant floor or through a heat exchanger inside the 50 gallon in-direct water heater.  The stainless steel water heater is also equipped with back-up electric element that in addition provides an anti-bacteria function.

The all electric heat pump provides 3 to 5 kWh of usable heat for every 1kWh of electricity it uses and cuts greenhouse emissions by 2.5 tons per year over the propane heater.  Designed and built Denmark the ISO9001 awarded Altherma is Intertek listed and Energy Star rated.  The system works with radiant floors, panel radiator and forced air heating and cooling.

Excellent system for both new and existing homes can also be used with a solar hot water heating system.  Call Sunworks today for more information on the Daikin Altherma Air to Water heat pump.
