GEO-THERMAL HEAT PUMPS
Almost 50% of the sun's energy that reaches the earth is absorbed into the ground and a Geo-thermal heat pump can tap into this energy and use it to heat and cool your home. Just a few feet under the surface the ground temperature remains a fairly constant 55 degrees year round. This means it is warmer than the outside air in the winter and cooler in the summer, a perfect environment to draw or release energy.
This energy is collected by using underground piping or earth loops buried in your yard and a water and non toxic anti-freeze transfer fluid circulating through them to absolve or release heat.
During the heating season, heat is extracted from the earth loop and, using a refrigerant process, this heat is intensified and transfered to the air, which is then delivered into your home. During the cooling system the process is reversed, hot air is removed from the home by the cool refrigerant, then transfered into the ground.
This is the same basic technology that air source heat pumps use, however by using the energy in the earth a geo-thremal system has an efficiency rating of 400%, compared to a standard air source heat pump at 200% or a gas furnace at 90%, a geo-thermal heat pump can save you up to 60% on your heating and cooling costs.
For radiant heating the geo-thermal system heats the water that is circulated through your floors, keeping your home warm and comfortable. The geo-system can also heat most of your household potable water and save you up to 65% of that cost.

DUAL FUEL HYBRID HEATING SYSTEMS
Perhaps now more then ever before people want comfort and energy efficiency in home heating, a dual fuel system does just that.
Our dual fuel heating systems use high efficiency Lennox or ArmstrongAir heat pumps as the primary heating source and either a natural or propane gas, oil or wood furnace as the secondary fuel source.
The heat pump adds efficiency and is used to heat the home when outside air temperatures are above 40 degrees. Below 40 degrees, the second fuel system kicks in, this supplies warmer air for better comfort. Becuse 80% of our heating hour per year are above 35 degrees, dual fuel system are more efficient and cost less to operate than a standard heat pump or gas furnace alone.
The dual fuel system adds comfort with warmer supply air, which eliminates the cool drafts comman with standard heat pumps and lower overall heating system operating costs and you still have air conditionning.
